Chocolate Hills

Chocolate Hills are considered to be the most famous attraction in Bohol. The hills look like chocolate mounds which turn brown during dry season. There were many theories that geologists established to support the unusual geological formation that consists of 1,268 hills scattered across the towns of  Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan. The most common theory that geologists agreed is written in the bronze plaque at an observation hill in Carmen, Bohol.

There are two areas where tourists can observe the hills. The main observation point is located in the Chocolate Hills Complex  in Carmen and the other point is at the Sagbayan Peak in the town of Sagbayan.

Almost every tours in Bohol include Chocolate Hills as one of its destinations, but if you want to go there by yourself, there are buses stationed at the Dao Integrated Bus Terminal in Tagbilaran bound for the towns of Carmen and Sagbayan.  If you want to view the hills from Carmen, just take a bus for the town and ask to be dropped at the Chocolate Hills Complex which is few kilometers before reaching the town of Carmen.  And if anyone wants to view hills from Sagbayan Peak, take a bus for Sagbayan and ask to be dropped in Sagbayan Peak just before reaching the town of Sagbayan. 

Observing the hills from Chocolate Hills Complex offers the viewers a wider scope of the place.  From the top of the observation deck, spectators can see the farthest place which Chocolate Hills are scattered. In order to get to the deck, visitors have to climb up 214 steps for the magnificient view of the famous Chocolate Hills of Bohol.  Also at the complex, there are some souvenir shops, restaurants and vendors offering different kind of merchandise to the visiting tourists.
